Broken Finger

We arrived at school at our usual time on a Friday afternoon to pick up the boys. Matt came running up to us on the playground with his hand in the air, saying, "my finger is gray"! My heart sank and I reached to see what had happened. Apparently no one at school knew a thing, and after a few phone calls, one teacher said he fell that morning on the playground, cried for a bit and then went on with his day. He said he didn't use his left hand the rest of the day. Ugh! So, Friday afternoon, bruised and swollen hand, and we end up at the Acute Care place down the block. Sure enough, it was a broken finger.

5 days later, a few temporary bandages later, we ended up at Children's Hospital for an appointment in what they call the "Plastic Hands" department.

Matt ended up with a bright green cast and a day off from school! We played hooky and just hung out together and enjoyed each other.

He was such a big boy that day! No pain, no complaining, just left with a cast and a bit of a clingy afternoon.
