Our Favorite Beach
We took a morning and went to explore a new beach and in the process found our favorite "local" beach. It's up the road a bit, but the drive and walk to the actual beach were totally worth it! We found Crystal Cove and fell in love!
Soccer!
Soccer began with a big change... both boys were playing! Jonathan's was a bit different as he didn't have a team and no practices. So, since he knew most of the boys on Matt's team, he occasionally practiced with them. It was crazy to see him on the field with the "big kids"!
The first practice, and Matt was totally in soccer mode!
Jonathan playing the role as team member!
Check out both of those Trevino boys, hanging with the team.
Matt is always the jokester when waiting for his turn.
Look at Jonathan!
Big kicks!
Wonder who taught Jonathan about a big kick???
Matt's team had a little scrimmage at practice. Here's just part of the team. Such a great group of boys!
California Adventure
Once Cars Land opened up, we took the opportunity to take the boys to Disneyland!
The shuttle from a parking lot is never more exciting than when it's taking you to Disneyland!
Waiting for the Mater ride!
Jonathan hung back with me while Nick & Matt rode the ride.
The Cars ride was backed up to put it lightly, so we knew we wouldn't be able to ride it that day, but we went to investigate the scene. It was amazing and looked just like the movie and just like Radiator Springs!
The weather was a bit foggy and chilly in the morning, but it turned out to be a beautiful day!
Merry-Go-Round!
They are up there, look closely!
The parades and performances are so cool. The army men from Toy Story did a performance. The boys are across the crowd with Nick if you look closely!
Brotherly love! Those two can make each other laugh (and cry) at the drop of a hat!
The best part of the day was when the boys (Matt and his obsession) got to see the Phineas and Ferb parade! They were a bit impatient, but weren't sure what to do when they stopped and performed right in front of us!
Don't try to take pictures of us looking at the camera and smiling, we will look miserable and tell everyone we had a bad time! ;)
Oh look, a smile!
They had a great day and while we are no marathon theme park family, we made it into the afternoon this time before we were all ready to leave the crowds!
Go Fly a Kite!
We got some cheap kites at the store because the boys were dying to fly them. One afternoon, we tried them out. They aren't the best or most consistent kites around, but they worked for some afternoon amusement.
4th of July, 2012
The neighborhood street party was in full planning mode for another 4th! It was going to be another street fest with all who wanted to attend, a bounce house, bike parade, crafts, and of course, fireworks.
The boys decorated hats for the parade!
Trying out the bounce house pre-party was fun!
Neighborhood craziness trapped in a bouncy castle!
Time for a bike parade... notice group photo and no Jonathan.
Parade is about to start, and Jonathan has decided to make an appearance, but way in the back and not ready to ride anything.
Our crazy noodle!
Time for poppers and early fireworks. Sometimes, the big boys are more impatient than the little ones.
POP!
Street cleaners come on Mondays!
Sparklers are fun!
Don't take pictures of me smiling and enjoying myself!
It was a fun night, but as usual there was an casualty list, but this time, we weren't on it!
First Tooth Lost!
Soon after we returned from Sacramento, Matt lost his first tooth! He was a bit miffed throughout his Kindergarten year that he hadn't lost a tooth yet, but finally the day came! He worked for about an hour after his bath that night, and finally completed his mission!
I think he's a bit happy (holding the tooth over his head)!
Look at that smile! His eyes are just lighting up!
Matt picked out a special tooth fairy pillow and thankfully we had it in time to leave his first tooth out for her to see! She left him a little note and some money, rewarding him for losing his first tooth! He was so excited, he woke up a little earlier than normal the next morning!
