Firetrucks & Playgrounds!

We took the boys to one of the neighborhood school playgrounds one afternoon, and they had a blast! We hadn't stopped there before, so it was a great surprise for them. New playground! You know they were in heaven!

Jonathan and Nick drive around to put out fires.

Woo hoo, driving a fire truck!

Matt, getting brave on the play structure. I believe he stopped on the next rung, but calmly got himself down. Such a great change!

Our little guy is growing up (and this was back in April!)

Racing Daddy down the slides. Just not as fun when you are adult sized and your hips hit those curvy parts!
Much better, brothers racing down!

The bridge got him.

But, in true Jonathan fashion, he was up and moving within seconds and it didn't stop him one bit!

I love my boys!

All 4 Jake

Back in April, we joined up with a few old friends from high school, and many more, to form a team for the Stroll for Epilepsy at the Dallas Zoo. A friend from high school has a son who has been diagnosed with Doose Syndrome, which is a type of epilepsy that is often resistant to medication. You can read more about Jake and the amazing Peters family on their blog.

The boys were a bit unsure about the zoo that day. It was amazing how many people had gathered to support such an great cause. They started out by doing a bit of climbing.

Nick was a trooper, coming along to something I had agreed to support, when it was the morning after we moved. It was a tough morning for us all, but we had to be there!

The monkeys are always a hit with our littlest monkey

Who's your daddy?

Amazement clouded by grumpiness for most of the morning. I was glad to catch him truly amazed by the animals in this shot.

Matt & Nick rode the carousel while Jonathan and I watched and made faces as they came around!

One of the faces he was giving to his daddy. "Blehhhh!"

Getting a better view!

Daddy's still got you, Jon!

We took long naps that day, but it was great to be a part of such a meaningful day. We were able to see old friends of mine I hadn't seen in years! Great to reunite with so many!

Duck, Duck, Goose

We decided to try something new one morning, so we drove to Allen and hung out at Watters Creek. No playground, but the duck statues, green areas, water features and bookstore kept us busy up until lunch time.

Jonathan tries out one of the ducks.

I think he had fun!

They thought it was hilarious. It was as if they were driving an imaginary car or something.

Poor mama duck didn't know what she was in for with these two!

Jonathan modeled the large chair, resting up from the playtime!

Easter, Egg Hunts, and Petting Zoos

We had a few too many egg hunts this year, but the boys had a blast! We started out in my dad's neighborhood, then there was one at their church, and then Matt had another one at his preschool at the time.

The most challenging egg hunt was in the neighborhood. The eggs were everywhere, and since there had been recent cold weather, there was not much green grass to hide any eggs.

Granny watches as Jonathan gathers his eggs.

They found their limit and headed to the playground.

Playground time. First eggs, then dizziness!

Jonathan & Grandpa head back to the pool house after some more playtime.

Their allowance of one lollipop was savored! We were off to a photo shoot after this, so the lollipop was a risky offer. They made it without incident though!

The next event was Granny & Grandpa's church egg hunt.

He was trying to show me the cool egg he found, while smiling big. This was the result!

Matt had to wait for his age group, so Jonathan went off with his haul and Granny & Grandpa to decorate some cookies.

Jonathan had found a "golden egg" at the egg hunt in the neighborhood, and he had gotten a prize. Matt was convinced that he was going to find one at this egg hunt. He slowed himself down in his hunt by asking me if any egg resembling "gold" was the big prize.

Stopping for a photo op

We found Jonathan in the room with cookie decorating. Matt joined right in.

Smiling with his decorated cookie!

It's a bit blurry, but you can see how much he enjoyed his cookie!

Yummy!

Missed some icing.

Next stop at the church hunt was the petting zoo out front.

Matt fed the baby goat. I couldn't believe he reached in and gave it a try!

Jonathan got a closer look.

Of course the pony wants the hay you are giving him instead of what's in front of him.

He went back for a second try, this time on his own, without me! He's growing up and trying new things!

Reflective of his day?

Grandpa Turns 70!

We were still staying at my dad's house when his birthday came around. The boys were very excited about yet another chance to have some cake!

We sang to Grandpa!

Then we ate chocolate! Jonathan loves his chocolate in his belly, on his mouth and on his hands too. Have to spread the love, I guess!

A try for a pouty face at the idea of my taking pictures.

Matt tried to imitate Jonathan's pouty face. Notice the laughter just below the surface!

We had lots of fun celebrating another birthday, especially such a milestone!

More snow?

Random, quick snowstorm struck us again in March. It was crazy! The boys were very excited to get outside and play in it. It was over 7" deep!

I couldn't believe how much was piled on my car. After all my years growing up in Dallas, I had never seen anything like this, especially 4 different times (over 3 months).

It was cold, but the boys were having a blast.

Later, we went inside, dried off, had some hot chocolate, and then made some bubble monsters!

Blowing on each other and blowing bubbles all over the place was fun for all!

The boys got me involved and we all had bubbles all over our faces. I just love how much they love messy play! Talk about bringing my work home with me!
