Memorial Day Weekend

We headed up to Oklahoma to visit Nick's parents for Memorial Day weekend. I realize that Labor Day just passed, but I'm playing catch up!

Exploring the deck.

Some play time inside. It was dinosaur crazy!

Pool time, with Daddy!

Watch out, Pawpaw is after you, Matt!

So much fun, when he's in the mood to be splashed!

What did you say?

Time for some strawberry shortcake with Nana. I love the concentration (and the tongue).

Help with the Redi Whip!

More concentration here.

Jonathan's turn now!

Being a holiday weekend, there were festivals to be had. We went to a local art festival. We roasted, but had a good time.
Here are my boys!

Trying to get smiles and eyes on the camera is a challenge.

Jonathan's trying not to give in.

Hiding in the trees, while waiting for face painting proved fun.

Much to our surprise, it was Matt's idea to get his face painted. We were in shock and doubtful he'd go through with it, but we waited.

He sat down and was such a big boy the whole time!

Couldn't believe he not only asked for it, but tolerated it.

He was quite proud of his spider and web!

He was showing it off to everyone.

Jonathan went for a shark on his arm.

He was a bit more reluctant, but went along with it.

He loved it when it was done.

Then we went swimming, and he cried when his shark came off gradually throughout the rest of the day.

Singing with Pawpaw is always a special treat when we visit.

We had a great visit, and the boys just couldn't get enough of the pool during the visit. They had a blast and are both getting the hang of swimming.

Pool time!

The boys loved having the pool available out back over the summer. When it wasn't too hot for me to sit outside with them, they got to enjoy the pool!

Safety first when in 6 inches of water!

They make me laugh with the off and on squirting, splashing, screaming because they got splashed, jumping, ... Crazy summer days!

End of School Year

Yes, I am posting in September and talking about the end of the school year. I am WAY behind, but I'm going to try to play catch up (again!).

The end of the school year in May was marked with a family picnic. It was on a Thursday, so unfortunately that meant Nick had to miss out. I took off work that day and headed to the school for the picnic. The boys were too cute, and the weather was too hot!

Here we are eating our picnic lunches, waiting for the games to begin. The boys had made hats especially for this picnic.

Hmmm...

Jonathan wouldn't pose with a smile, but here he is with his favorite teacher, Ms. Danielle!

Danielle goes for the imitation of the frowny face. No smile, but it made for a cute pic!

Popsicles!

Popsicles + Bean Bag Toss = Sticky Mess!

Hot and sticky, but so much fun!

Purple tongue madness

Time for some fishing in the blow up pool. Amazing how much fun they had!

Jonathan caught his first fish!

Brothers fishing together.

Yea!!!

I did it!

Reaching for the stars

The boys had so much fun and we were all hot and tired afterward. The boys went to school all summer, but it was a no uniform, relaxed kind of atmosphere. They really had fun, and met some new friends over the summer.

Baseball & Corn?

We just signed Matt up for t-ball! I can't wait to see how everything unfolds this fall! You can see in these pics why we think the fall might be interesting.

Matt loves to have Daddy pitch to him!

Getting ready...

Oof!

Jonathan decided to jump in!

Summer = baseball & corn?

Matt joined in the ear of corn fun!

Matt has been banned from hitting pitched balls in the backyard because he's hit so many over the fence! We had to find an open area to test out his potential. But, the playground won this time.
Racing down the slides, again!

Popcorn and a Movie!

My boys love their popcorn. We had some snack time with a movie and I couldn't help but take a picture. It's not often they sit so close without conflict.

Mother's Day!

Yes, it's August and I'm posting about a May holiday. Unbelievably behind again, but I'm trying...

The annual Yaga's Cookoff is Mother's Day weekend, so once again, Nick joined with the team and spent the weekend in Galveston. So, I called up my mom and she flew in to spend the holiday weekend together! It was a great visit, a little home time, a little work time for me while she visited with friends, and a lot of play time with the boys!

We were supposed to be getting ready for the day, but the boys roped Grandma into some play time at the train table.

The boys came home from school, ready to play outside. Water bottles + outdoors = happy boys!

We took Grandma to Allen Station for some outside fun. Once again, Jonathan found a window for some peek-a-boo.

Oh the maze!

A playground? Not us!

The crazy slides...

Bumpy and curvy slides get a definite yes vote.

Another playground, luckily right next door to the last.

The boys crack me up when they try to stage a "crash" at the bottom of a slide.

Time for a fruit sundae. Can you tell there were blackberries involved?

See, it's on my thumb? Not to mention my face!

OOOOOOOO!

Matt was very busy enjoying his sundae.

Matt thought we needed a picture of the two of us. Such a master photographer.

Nick sent me some roses for Mother's Day, and Matt thought we needed a picture!

Bedtime took a new meaning when there was a witness AND a camera.

What a great big brother moment. Matt's so good with him (sometimes)!
