July 4th, Oklahoma style

Holiday weekend + living in Dallas = road trip to Oklahoma for a visit.

Matt & Jonathan still enjoy driving, rolling and generally throwing cars and trucks up and down the driveway and sidewalks at Nana and Pawpaw's house.

This picture cracks me up! Can't remember what he was saying.

The peek-a-boo tree out front is always a magnet.

Peek-a-boo

Monkey see, monkey do

The boys found a worm on the sidewalk. The next few pictures are great! You can just see on their faces how they discover nature, and how Nick freaks Matt out by touching the worm!

Nana and I took the boys to the local 4th of July parade the next morning. It was a bit drizzly out, but we hung in there and the boys were troopers, heavily entertained by all the vehicles and entertainment in the parade.

Nana and Jonathan walked to our parade sight together.

Nana got the boys flags for the holiday weekend. They proudly waved them all morning.

No shortage of ice pops, as the stand was right behind us.

Another ice pop?

Coooold!

Intense parade watchers

Still hanging onto the flags.

He squatted through much of the parade. We couldn't understand how his knees weren't aching.

Blue lips from all the ice pops!

Pointing out something cool in the parade!

Nana's umbrella was a big hit with Matt.

It was a wet walk back to the car.

The weekend was a bit wet, but we decided to try to make a picnic and play at the playground.

Jonathan didn't mind the weather!

Off to feed the ducks with Nana and Uncle Mike.

I think Jonathan ate more crackers than he gave to the ducks.

Matt wasn't sure if he wanted to feed the ducks or hit some baseballs.

He voted for baseball.

Daddy & Pawpaw help out with the stance.

4th of July and we went crazy. First time for me to be around fireworks while they were being set off, and first time for the boys to see the fireworks. Yes, they stayed up that late (and went a little loony along the way!).

Matt wasn't too sure about the volume of all the fireworks.

Matt was hesitant, but curious.

Matt was running a lot. Jonathan wasn't sure he wanted to be involved and Matt fled in every direction.

Camped out in the parking lot for the best views of the fireworks!

The boys were bathed and in pjs, but nowhere near sleepy with all the excitement.

The boys brought along their dogs for the display.

It was unbelievable to both of us, but the boys stayed awake the entire ride home. I couldn't believe it. They were a mess!

Watters Creek

The boys love wandering around at Watters Creek. We had a few errands to run around there one afternoon, so we did some wandering.

Bronze ducks and real ducks... how confusing!

Matt was so excited to be so close to the ducks. I can't believe they let him so close to them with all his bottled up excitement.

Having a talk with Daddy

Watching the ducks is fun at any age.

Big chairs are fun too!

That's a big ol' pig.

Cool Jenkins?

There's a great indoor play place near us in Plano. We took the boys there and Matt fell in love. Problem is, he doesn't know the right name for it, so no one else would ever guess the place! It's called Amazing Jakes, and somehow he remembered it, but consulted his Thesaurus first or something. So, to Matt, we went to Cool Jenkins! And the name has stuck, at least with the 4 of us!

They have a small miniature golf course set up inside.

The boys had fun, but were a bit wild with the clubs.

It became a game to see just how long they could stretch it at the 9th hold without losing the ball. We herded them toward the games and they were over the whole golfing experience.

A refreshing bright blue drink... Mommy's favorite!

Mini bowling too? This place IS amazing, AND cool!

There are all kinds of games upstairs, and of course tickets and prices. We'll be heading back there soon!

Father's Day Weekend

We had a fun Father's Day weekend, playing at the park and in the water all weekend long. The boys had a blast!

A tunnel slide to start it all off.

Snacks in between splashes.

Plugging the sprinklers became a game for Matt. Notice the water bottle he has over one, while blocking 3 more.

Along with splashing from below, the squirt bottles added to the fun.

The little boy walking by Jonathan was his age, but a whole foot shorter. We grow 'em big in Texas.

Splashing is so much fun!

Where were these places when we were little?

The big fountain in the middle was a 2 person job.

They crack each other up more every day.

Change of clothes for some playground time.

Wild man in the slide!
